We have recently made an important change to the combat system: we replaced the default formulas previously used by the server with the original CIP formulas from version 8.0, reconstructed based on technical data publicly available about the behavior of the official server from that era.
Following this migration, we received several reports from the community indicating that ranged attacks felt "weak" or had "too many misses". We took these reports seriously and ran a full audit on the new system, with detailed logs and direct comparison against the original CIP behavior. Below, we share the results of this investigation. Why we migrated the formulasThe server originally operated with the default combat formulas (inherited from the base source), which work fine but do not faithfully reproduce the behavior of the original Tibia 8.0. Since our goal is to deliver an authentic retro Tibia experience, we imported the real CIP 8.0 formulas. This means combat now behaves the same way it did on the official server from that era — including the ranged miss chance, armor mitigation, and damage variance characteristic of the version. Players were expected to notice this difference, and the reports we received confirm that the change is having its intended effect. What was analyzed in the auditEven though the migration was intentional, we wanted to make sure that the new formulas were working correctly — meaning that the "harder" combat was indeed the original CIP 8.0 behavior, and not a bug introduced during the import. The audit covered the main combat points:
Technical resultsThe system is working exactly like CIP 8.0, following the original parameters:
In practice, this means that some shots will indeed miss even with high skill — and this is the expected behavior, not a bug. When the attack lands, the damage falls within the values predicted by the original formula. In melee combat, many hits are naturally reduced by the target's defense and armor, exactly as on the official Tibia 8.0. About the reported "issue"No bug was identified as a result of the formula import. The "low damage" feeling reported by players comes from two legitimate factors of the CIP formula, which did not exist (or worked differently) in the previous system:
In other words: what felt like a "nerf" is actually the original Tibia 8.0 behaving the way it always did on CIP. Transparency and commitmentFrom now on, the server has detailed combat logging for continuous auditing. This means:
This is our commitment to those who are looking for an authentic retro Tibia experience — and not just another "adapted" version of 8.0. We want to thank everyone who submitted reports after the migration. You were essential in helping us validate that the formula import was successful — and that the server now offers the authentic combat experience of the 8.0 era. Keep reporting whenever something feels off. That is how we maintain the quality of the server.
